Kathy assumed duties as Executive Director of CAPS in July 2005 after being director at Northwestern University for ten years. She received her Ph.D. in counseling psychology at the University of Missouri-Columbia and her undergraduate degree at the College of William and Mary. Prior to her years as director at Northwestern, she worked in counseling centers at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Stephens College and the University of Missouri.  She also maintained a private practice in Missouri and Illinois, and is retained as a psychological consultant for an international study abroad organization.

Kathy is co-chair of the Elements of Excellence Committee for the Association of University and College Counseling Center Directors. This committee designs and implements continuing education training for directors of counseling centers.  Kathy's areas of special interest include legal and ethical issues in psychology, consultation, supervision and psychotherapy. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, Association of University and College Counseling Center Directors, and the National Association for Student Personnel Administrators.
